Asus TUF Dash F15 review (FX516PR model – Intel i7, RTX 3070)

Intel delayed their main-stream 11th gen Core H performance 6C/8C processors for the Spring of 2021, and merely launched a new sub-series of mid-range quad-core processors at the beginning of the year, marketed as options for lightweight and affordable gaming laptops. The platform is called Tiger Lake H35 and includes pretty much higher-clocked versions of the already existing Tiger Lake processors, this time with a design TDP of 35W and the ability to run at higher power in sustained CPU loads. Asus are among the first to bring a portable 15-inch laptop based on this platform to market, a slimmer and lighter TUF model called TUF Dash F15. This pretty much borrows internals and construction elements from the previous year Zephyrus G and M models, the screen options, and lid design from the regular full-size TUF series, and pairs a 4C Intel processor with lower-power variants of the Nvidia RTX 3050Ti, 3060 and 3070 graphics chips, running at 80-85W. We’ve spent...

Performance Quick-Take With WD's 7200 RPM Scorpio Black 500GB Notebook Hard Drive

When it comes to notebook hard drives, it's hard to get enough of two things: capacity and speed. While SSDs (solid state drives) definitely address the speed issue, they only exacerbate the capacity issue (at least for now). Not to mention that the higher you bump the capacity with SSDs, particularly into the 256GB range, the cost skyrockets by a multiple of their standard spinning media-based counterparts. Don't get me wrong, there's an exploding market for SSDs, and they'll probably one day supplant rotary media entirely, but they're definitely not what notebook manufacturers are using for mainstream product development right now, or even in the near future. It is not practical for cost reasons alone. As a result, leading hard drive manufacturers such as Western Digital continue to push rotational storage technologies to improve both capacity and speed and lower cost structures. We took a look at it not long ago Seagate Momentus XT notebook drive. This l...

Google Pixel 6 Pro Review

The Pixel 6 Pro is arguably the brand's first true flagship without compromise. But how does it compare to the crème de la crème from Apple, Samsung and Sony? What we love - Swish software and an incredible camera If you want to have the best possible Android experience, this smartphone is currently your best bet. The operating system has never looked better and offers exclusive features such as real-time translation, guaranteed security patches for the next five years and Material You's intuitive user interface. From a hardware perspective, the screen is the biggest selling point of this device. The LTPO panel delivers absolutely perfect brightness, contrast and HDR support, while the variable refresh rate ranges from 10Hz to 120Hz to save battery at the lower end and ensure super-smooth scrolling at the higher end of that spectrum. The camera, in typical Pixel style, i...
