2020 Genesis G70 RWD 3.3T Sport Review

How good is the 2020 Genesis G70 RWD 3.3T Sport?
The Genesis G70 2020 is a special combination of luxury, performance and driving dynamics that is sure to put a smile on your face. The Genesis G70 is a luxury sports sedan to rival the C-Class and 3-Series with the ability to offer fun and great engine sounds at a more affordable price.
There's a lot to like about the 2020 G70 RWD 3.3T Sport, but you'll have to accept a smaller rear seat and an infotainment system that could use a more upscale UI. Luckily, the system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is where many drivers will spend their time. Available in 2.0T, 2.0T Sport and 3.3T versions. I tested the Sport Trim with rear-wheel drive.
Driving the 2020 Genesis G70 RWD 3.3T Sport

The 2020 Genesis G70 RWD 3.3T Sport is a blast to drive.
The G70 is an absolute blast to drive. The driver is great and still feels very controlled even in sport mode. The know-how that went into fine-tuning handling and performance shines when it brings smiles down twisty roads. Even when pushing, the car feels under control and behavior is predictable and repeatable, resulting in a fun yet safe experience. A low center of gravity and the electronically controlled suspension work well together, resulting in an excellent ride quality.
You can choose Eco, Smart, Comfort, Custom and Sport driving modes. Eco is optimized for fuel economy, Comfort for a smooth and comfortable ride and Smart adapts to your driving style. Sport mode optimizes for a more engaging driving experience, but is still comfortable if you want to use this mode on longer highway journeys. Custom allows you to combine different options to customize them to your preferred settings.
The twin-turbo 3.3L V6 offers plenty of power and the engine sounds excellent. The power and exhaust note offer a winning combination to the luxurious interior and refined looks. The G70 3.3T Sport is fast, with a 0-60 time under 5 seconds. The adjustable suspension lets you control how much feedback you feel, but even without adjustments, you still get a lot of feedback from the road.
You can expect around 20mpg combined with 17mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway.
Genesis G70 interior

The interior of the G70 is beautiful and comfortable.
The interior of the Genesis G70 2020 is decidedly luxurious. The materials are top notch and I loved the quilted seats and armrest area. The seats not only look great but are also very comfortable. I drove all over Northwest Ohio to watch a friend's kids baseball games and watched from afar, and even after a long day in the car I felt fresh. The cabin layout is good with plenty of storage space in the center console and wireless charging when I wasn't using CarPlay.
One small feature I loved was the adjustable bolsters on the seats, which allow you to dial in a tighter fit during aggressive driving and a looser, more comfortable fit during normal driving. These can be easily adjusted using the controls on the side of the seat. You can also adjust some of the passenger seat's movement using the controls on the driver's side. This comes in handy when you're helping someone get in the front, or when you need to make room for an adult or child in the back seat. The seats are heated on all models and ventilated from the Elite onwards, which is a must in the middle of hot summer.
Rear seat legroom is a little tight, but it's good enough for kids, and an adult on some sort of ride can be comfortable. If you're planning to ride with adults, check out the roomier G80 or G90.
The trunk carried my collection of gear for road trips, hiking, and helping with a home renovation. It's big enough for a handful of suitcases and other items you need on your travels. With the Prestige packages and higher you get a Power Trunk.
Infotainment & Safety
The Genesis infotainment system is good, but it looks like it was pulled straight out of a Hyundai. It's easy to use and the system works, but it doesn't match the G70's interior as well as it could. The good news is that the system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You'll need to plug in an outlet to use these options, but a cable gives you the best access to your messages, music, audiobooks, maps, and calls. You can also use Bluetooth to connect to the car for calls and music. The Lexicon 15 speaker stereo system is good and allows me to take refuge on the go. The call quality via Bluetooth and CarPlay was good. There are three USB ports, two in the front and one in the back.

The infotainment system is good but could use updated graphics.
There are many great safety technologies and driver comfort features. The adaptive cruise control worked well, keeping me in step with traffic as I cruised down the freeway. Standard safety and convenience features include:
- Blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert
- Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Keeping Assist
- Automatic high beam
With the Elite package, you get Low Beam Assist, which uses the wheel to control the headlights to shine in the direction you're turning while driving. This greatly improves visibility at night.
