QUICK RESPONSE

To attach an email in Gmail, you can select the emails by ticking their boxes and then selecting Forward as an attachment of the More Menu. Or open a new Gmail email window and drag the email(s) you want to attach onto the window. In both cases, they are automatically converted to EML format and attached to the email.

Forward as an attachment

This is probably the fastest way to attach an email to Gmail. First, select the emails you want to attach by checking the boxes on the left.

The selected emails will now be converted to EML format and attached to a new email window.

drag and drop

The previous method is all well and good, but what if you're already in the middle of an email and you suddenly remember that you need to attach another email? Then you can drag and drop those emails in instead.

First go to the email you are working on and make sure it is in the bottom right corner of Gmail. This is important because you need it there, but you also need it out of the way to check the other emails. If the email you're working on takes up the entire screen, click the two diagonal arrows in the top header of the email window. This minimizes the window to the corner of the screen.

Now select the emails you want to attach to the email by ticking their boxes.

Using your mouse or trackpad, drag these emails into the new email window and then release them.

Unfortunately, Gmail does not currently support opening EML files natively. When you click on an EML file, it will be opened in a default email app you have installed on your computer, such as Email. B. Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird or macOS Mail. A workaround is to download the EML file into one of the email apps above and connect your Gmail account via IMAP to sync the email.

Can you attach emails in the Gmail app for Android and iOS?

No, this is not supported. You can only do it in a browser.
