When you're active online, it's quite difficult to hide your Gmail address. Someone will add you to their email blast list or they will email you directly. There may also be times when you don't want to receive emails from someone you've spoken to before.

While Gmail gives you the option to unsubscribe from newsletters and has a good spam filter, it's messages like this that make it through the filter and end up in your primary inbox. How to block emails on gmail web

You can block emails directly from the email interface (just like Instagram and Facebook). It is not necessary to create a special filter to send an email address to the spam folder. The email blocking feature in Gmail does this for you.

  1. Open the Gmail website in the browser of your choice and log in with your credentials.
  2. Open an email from the sender you want to block.
  3. press the menu button from the top right corner.
  1. Choose Block (Sender) Opportunity.
  1. In the pop-up window, confirm by clicking block Button.
  1. Gmail will now tell you that all new emails from this sender will end up in spam. If you want to spam the current email, you can click Move to spam Button.

How to block emails in Gmail on mobile

The process of blocking emails in Gmail app for iPhone and Android is very similar.

  1. Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android smartphone and make sure you're signed in with the correct account.
  2. Open the email you want to block.
  3. Tap the menu button from the top right corner.
  4. In the pop-up, tap the Block (Sender) Button.
  1. The sender is immediately blocked (unlike Gmail for the web, you don't need to confirm the action).
  2. If you want to send the email to spam, you can tap report spam Button.

How to unblock an email sender

Would you like to receive emails from a blocked sender? You can always reverse your decision and unblock an email sender.

  1. Open the Gmail website in your browser. In the inbox, click the ideas icon and select the See All Settings Opportunity.
  1. Here you go to Filters and blocked addresses Section.
  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the section. Here you can see a list of all blocked addresses. To unlock one, click unlock Button.
  1. If you want to unblock multiple addresses, select them and then select them Unblock selected addresses Button.

Now the email address will no longer be marked as spam. New messages from the email now end up in the inbox instead of in the spam folder.

You won't find this option in the Gmail app for iPhone and Android. To unblock a sender on mobile, you need to find an email from the sender. Then tap the menu button from the email and select it Unblock (Sender) possibility to unlock them.

How to unsubscribe from Gmail on the web

If you get too many emails from a newsletter, you can unsubscribe instead of blocking the sender.

To do this using the Gmail web client, follow the steps below.

  1. Sign in to your account in the Gmail web client.
  2. Open the email you want to unsubscribe from.
  3. Find the to unsubscribe next to the sender's name and click on it.
  1. In the popup, click the to unsubscribe button to confirm.
  1. If you don't see them to unsubscribe button in the Gmail interface, go to the bottom of the newsletter email and look for a to unsubscribe Shortcut. Click to unsubscribe from the email.

Now you have successfully unsubscribed from the email and will not receive any new emails from the newsletter.

How to sign out of the Gmail app

Similarly, you can also unsubscribe from the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.

  1. Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
  2. Open the email you want to unsubscribe from.
  3. Tap the menu Button in the top toolbar (above the email interface).
  4. Select the to unsubscribe Opportunity.
  5. In the pop-up window, confirm by tapping to unsubscribe Button.

You have now unsubscribed from the email and will not see any new updates from the newsletter.
