Sony Xperia 10 III Review

The Sony Xperia 1 III is a mid-range offering from the renowned Japanese brand, but given the stiff competition, can it still make a name for itself? Read our review to find out.

What we love — Beautiful design, sharp screen, great battery life

The design of the Xperia 10 III is both classy and unique, sculpted from metal and glass with an unusual 21:9 aspect ratio that's ideal for watching movies or TV in widescreen. Despite this elegance, it feels sturdy in the hand and is waterproof according to IP68.

The OLED screen has a Full HD Plus resolution that offers both strong contrast and sharp details, and you can fine-tune it to your preferences via the settings. The only aspect that lets it down here is the 60Hz refresh rate, which isn't as smooth as some of the competition's 90Hz or 120Hz offerings.

The 4500mAh battery is a real standout of this phone as it can even last for two full days of use before needing a charge, a feat unmatched by many flagship options including the Sony Xperia 1 III will.

What we don't like — Mediocre performance, 60 Hz display, slow loading

When judging performance, the Xperia 10 III is undeniably snappier than its predecessor; However, it still falls short of the other devices you can buy at this price point, which is a disappointment. Running demanding games on the highest settings can be a difficult task. While other aspects of the screen are excellent, the 60Hz refresh rate isn't the best you can get for the money either.

Although 30W charging appears to be supported, the included brick is rated at just 7.5W, meaning the handset takes an agonizing 3 hours to fully charge.

verdict

The Sony Xperia 10 III is undoubtedly an unusual smartphone, and that's mostly a good thing, especially in terms of design and display. However, it takes its eyes off the ball in a few key areas like performance level and fast-loading ability.
