If you've chosen Samsung for your smart home - likely because you own one of their phones or devices - we've compiled a list of the best Samsung SmartThings devices you can find. There's not much platform support, but there's still a range of compatible accessories, whether you want a few lightbulbs or a full-featured ecosystem.

The best Samsung SmartThings devices:

Publisher's Note: This list of the best Samsung SmartThings devices is regularly updated as new devices are launched and others are phased out.

1. Samsung SmartThings Hub

Third generation Samsung SmartThings Hub device

SmartThings benefits from hubs more than most platforms. You don't necessarily need one, but you can pair Zigbee or Z-Wave accessories, connect with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and ensure at least some automations work when internet access is down.

Some Samsung devices (like their TVs) can act as hubs, but if that's not an option, you might consider scouting Samsung's third-gen SmartThings Hub. Scarcity has grossly inflated its price, but it's the only official option, at least until the company's Home Hub debuts later in 2022.

2. Philips Hue smart bulbs

There are plenty of solid smart bulbs out there, but the Philips Hue range is probably best for SmartThings users. It's available everywhere and comes in a range of form factors to suit every device and use case imaginable. Crucially, the lights can be paired directly with a SmartThings hub, meaning you don't have to shell out extra for a Philips hub.

Newer Hue bulbs offer Bluetooth connectivity as an alternative. Note that Hue lights are broadly divided into White, White Ambiance, and White and Color Ambiance models. The latter is pretty self-explanatory, but the difference between White and White Ambiance is that the latter offers "shades" of white, ranging from orange-tinged warm tones to bluish-cold ones.

3. Sengled smart bulbs

Smart lightbulbs from Sengled

Sengled's lights are simple but cheaper than brands like Philips and still get the job done. This four-pack of soft white bulbs is over $5 less than its Philips equivalent, which can be a big deal if you need to buy multiple packs. You obviously have to spend more at any company to get color changing technology.

Sonos is known for offering high-end speakers for multiple platforms, and the Move is no exception. As the name suggests, the speaker is designed to be used both inside and outside the home, switching from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth on the go. It's drop-proof and IP56 waterproof, with a battery life of up to 11 hours.

To charge, place Move on a wireless charging dock. Some features depend on Wi-Fi, e.g. B. Sonos Trueplay automatic tuning and connections with Alexa and Google Assistant.

5. Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug

The SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug is simple and affordable. As with any smart plug, you can use it to turn "dumb" devices into smart devices, with the only requirement being that they benefit from a simple on-off switch. This includes things like fans, heaters, dehumidifiers or conventional lamps.

Another great alternative, and possibly preferable, is the Kasa Smart Plug Mini. It's usually a bit cheaper and works just as well, it's just not specifically geared towards SmartThings.

6. Nest Learning Thermostat

Google Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen

The Nest Learning Thermostat is probably the most popular device of its kind, making it an easy pick among the best Samsung SmartThings devices. It's easy to use and understand, and as the name suggests, you can let it learn from your habit when you don't feel like creating a manual schedule. It's not cheap, but it can easily pay for itself by making heating and cooling more efficient.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro

A great way to increase home security is with a video doorbell. One of the market leaders is the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, which offers features like 1080p resolution, motion detection, and dual-band WiFi. It's also deeply integrated with Alexa, as Ring is an Amazon brand.

This particular model needs to be hardwired, but that means you never need to charge a battery and you can hear your regular analog chime. The only major downside is the need for a Ring Protect subscription if you want to record video instead of just live streaming.

8. Ring Stick Up Cam battery
